The Transforming Urban Rural Food Systems (TURFS) Consortium launched its Strategy for Food Systems Transformation at COP28 on ‘Food, Agriculture and Water’ day.
GAIN proudly congratulates the winning cities of the 2022 Milan Urban Food Policy Pact Awards. Executive Director, Lawrence Haddad was part of an international jury of experts who evaluated the urban food systems practices, submitted by cities, across six categories: Governance, Sustainable Diets and Nutrition, Social and Economic Equity, Food Production, Food Supply and Distribution and Food Waste.
2022 marks a decisive action year for scaling up and accelerating the implementation of robust, context specific efforts to eradicate hunger and increase accessibility of safe, nutritious foods for all people, whilst remaining within key Earth’s systems thresholds like climate change and biodiversity loss.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is pleased to announce the launch of "A menu of actions to shape urban food environments for improved nutrition", a reference resource developed in cooperation with the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP) and the RUAF Global Partnership.
FAO and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) have agreed to join forces to increase the availability and affordability of nutritious food for all in developing countries. The two organisations will also work to make urban food systems more nutrition-sensitive, through support to GAIN’s Urban Governance for Nutrition Programme and FAO’s Urban Food Agenda.
GAIN and RUAF announce their new partnership to work with city governments to improve urban nutrition as a key component of sustainable urban food systems. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in May 2018 as part of the Urban Governance for Nutrition Programme, a programme designed to strengthen governance around nutrition and improve consumption of safe and nutritious food.
