United States of America

GAIN’s United States office, located in Washington, D.C., provides GAIN opportunity for direct engagement with the US government and other US based stakeholders.

The US Government is the largest donor to global nutrition in the world. The GAIN office in Washington engages directly with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to contribute to their food system investments in nutrition, food safety and large-scale food fortification.

GAIN US hosts the Food Safety Programme, EatSafe, a USAID funded, five year program aiming to enable lasting improvements in the safety of nutritious fods in informal markets by focusing on the consumer.
GAIN’s US office also provides technical, financial and project management support to all GAIN offices as well as manages key relationships with donors and partners in the United States including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, American Society for Nutrition (ASN), the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).

The team also collaborates with many private sector food companies and academic partners from leading universities in the United States.

The US Office is home to a diverse group of finance, technical, research and project management experts that contribute to GAIN’s strategic programmes including food safety, food fortification, food financing, making markets work and better diets for children.
