Dr Papatya Alkan Genca is a Turkish academic residing in London. She is a board member of the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. She has been a member of Turkish Spina Bifida Association since 2004, and after moving to the UK she has become a member of Shine Surrey.
As a person with spina bifida and as an academic, she is both theoretically and practically interested in the improvement of lives of persons with spina bifida through research, advocacy, and support. Her current research concentrates on disability representations in literature, investigating the intersection of disability and literature.
