At the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Leonie Vierck is a nutrition deputy director heading a team dedicated to innovating our Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) work with the public and private sectors as well as quality assurance/quality control feedback loops. Leonie comes with a strong track record leading strategic execution.
She joined the foundation in early 2022 from a mid-management position in a Fortune10 corporate, which included the design and global roll-out of sustainability compliance measures. Before that, she was with the McKinsey public sector practice and a senior researcher at a Max Planck Institute. She started her career in bilateral aid, including managing an LSFF public private partnership for success in terms of reach. Originally a trained public-interest lawyer, her focus rests on models for effective business regulation and scaled, sustainable business cases in LMICs. Leonie has steered multi-stakeholder negotiations towards sizable outcomes.
