Children and Young People

GAIN works to shape food systems that better protect and cater to the needs of children and young people as they evolve and grow by innovating and scaling a range of age specific solutions, especially those market-based and using human centric approaches.

This programme advocates for systems initiatives that prioritise the needs of children, young people and their families, help guide positive food choices, and include them in decision-making processes.

GAIN adapts it’s programming according to children and young people’s ages, nutritional needs and interests. Our work is themed around three areas:

GAIN uses human centred design principles to support families to improve infant and young child feeding behaviours and to support young people to make healthier food choices and bring out their agency to choose, through activity-based online and offline games.

For older age groups, GAIN supports youth-led campaigns and community change that drive demand for nutritious and safe food and engage young people in processes that create policy change.

GAIN supports SMEs to increase their capacity to safely produce and sell nutritious foods for children. GAIN also supports young entrepreneurs to create change within the food system by leading profitable businesses that promote good nutrition.
