COVID-19 Response - EatSafe’s Food Price Monitoring Tool

Washington, D.C., 17 March 2022 -

As one of GAIN's response activities to the COVID-19 pandemic, Evidence and Action Towards, Safe, Nutritious Food (EatSafe) sought to understand how the pandemic impacted the prices of nutritious foods in traditional markets, areas where many people around the world buy and sell food. For 14 months, data was collected every two weeks on a basket of nutritious foods, specific to the country context, from two traditional markets in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania.

EatSafe developed an interactive, open access tool to allow interested researchers, stakeholders, and users to explore this vast dataset. Along with a How-To Guide on using the Tool, the data is available for download at the bottom of the page on the Food Price Tool.
