Today hunger and malnutrition affect one in three people in the world. Various stakeholders including governments, private sector, and civil society organizations are working together on this issue. 2016 is an important year for unifying global efforts on food security and nutrition, in light of starting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, reflecting on the Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as on the opportunities arising from the Nutrition for Growth event held in Brazil and TICAD VI held in Kenya.
As a follow-up to the G7 Ise-Shima Summit, this International Symposium intends to disseminate the discussions on food security and nutrition, by holding panel discussions regarding the G7 Vision for Action on Food Security and Nutrition issued at the Ise-Shima Summit. This Symposium aspires to be an opportunity to rally relevant stakeholders’ efforts, thereby strengthening a momentum to accelerate global efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
