The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board.
The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.

WHA76 Side Event: Joining Forces to Improve Adolescent Nutrition
An event that calls for greater investment in adolescent nutrition and support to WHO member states to develop policies and programmes that support healthy diets and lifestyles.

This event will bring together interested stakeholders to create a great call for attention and action by agreeing on priority setting and goals for future WHA engagement.

A special side event on the WHA food fortification resolution, hosted by the governments of Colombia, Ecuador, and Malaysia.
WHA76 Side Event: Initiative on Climate Action and Nutrition (I-CAN)
Thursday 25th May, 18:00 - 19:30, SUN Secretariat, Palais des Nations, Geneve
The virtual event is open-invite.
Objectives of the side event:
- To introduce the I-CAN vision and objectives to the Member States
- To strengthen nutrition and climate partnerships and outline the co-benefits of integrated action in climate-nutrition to Member States
- To present narrative and initial findings on the current integrated nutrition and climate action
- To elevate best practices and present policy options
- To showcase the ambition of Member States, including practical examples that build upon climate action and nutrition
- To discuss effective actions and how to accelerate work across the nexus of climate change and nutrition with Non-State Actors, Member Countries, and UN agencies through a panel discussion.
