Mathias Mogge was appointed Secretary General of Welthungerhilfe in September 2018.
The agricultural engineer and environmental scientist (MSc) has worked for the organization in various positions since 1998. Since March 2010 until 2018 he was as member of the Executive Management responsible for the International Programs. From 2005 to 2010 he was head of the "Knowledge, Innovation, Consulting-Department".
As Regional Director in Bamako (Mali), he was responsible for the development and management of programs in Mali, Burkina Faso, Liberia, and Sierra Leone from 2001 to 2005. Previously he was responsible as a Program Manager for WHH projects in Uganda, Ethiopia, and Sudan.
In December 2021 Mathias Mogge was elected Chairman of VENRO, the umbrella organization of development and humanitarian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Germany, where he has been a member of the Executive Board since 2013.
