Transforming food systems and investing in Nutrition for Growth - staple food fortification and the role of the private sector

Global food systems are powered by private sector investment and entrepreneurs, micro, small, medium, and large. Staple food fortification is an extremely effective, low-cost, food systems intervention with enormous potential to reduce micronutrient malnutrition across large populations.

Effective and sustainable fortification is only possible where the public sector (which has the mandate and responsibility to improve the health of the population) and the private sector (which has experience and expertise in food production and marketing) collaborate to develop, produce, and promote micronutrient-fortified foods.

The final months of 2021 will bring two opportunities for private sector leaders to step into the global spotlight as part of the global nutrition community as we establish ambitious goals and celebrate new commitments to make nutritious foods available and affordable to all.

UN Food Systems Summit (FSS) seeks to define game-changing solutions and actions that can put food systems on a 10-year pathway towards achieving the SDGs in 2030.  The FSS presents an opportunity to for companies to engage and accelerate private sector action to transform food systems. Nutrition for Growth (N4G) is a global pledging moment to drive greater action toward ending malnutrition and helping to ensure everyone, everywhere can reach their full potential.

Moderated by Inge Kauer, Executive Director of the Access to Nutrition Initiative, this webinar will highlight the importance of private and public sector collaboration to develop, produce and promote micronutrient-fortified foods and opportunities for new commitments looking toward the UN Food Systems Summit and the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit.

Featured speakers include Monica Musonda, Founder and CE of Java Foods and SUN Lead Group Member from Zambia and Chika Morishima, Corporate Executive Officer, Ajinomoto from Japan. Other prominent and dynamic speakers will be announced this week!
